Atalanta made a move for Muniz after Crystal Palace remained firm in their stance that they would only offload the player if a considerable offer was received. The 2025 Community Shield winners are reportedly looking for €50m (£43m/$58m) plus bonuses for Mateta. However, with the French striker's contract expiring in 2027, the club would prefer the player to spend another year at Selhurst Park.

WHAT NEXT FOR ATALANTA?
Atalanta's sporting director, Tony D'Amico, also plans to spend another €30m (£26m/$35m) on Strasbourg left-back Diego Moreira.
